Si no era suficiente con circular los coches con matricula par los dias pares y viceversa o con instalar camaras en el centro y cobrar un peaje por entrar...ahora instalan camaras en los carriles bus y cobrar 100£ por ello.

    Bus lane camera nets £1m

A bus lane camera in Hampstead, north-west London, has reaped £1m in just a year, according to the London Evening Standard. The camera, which monitors drivers on a 90-metre stretch of Haverstock Hill between Belsize Avenue and Lyndhurst Road, caught 10,420 motorists straying into the bus lane last year; they were fined £100, or £50 if paying promptly. At one point in October, the camera caught 15 drivers in just 23 minutes, raising £1500. Local residents have complained that the layout of the bus lane is flawed; the lane had to be shortened last year to allow cars to turn left at one point, as they could not have done this safely without entering the designated bus space. Transport For London intends to spend £325m by 2010 on establishing new bus priority measures such as bus lanes, with traffic lights also modified to recognize buses and give them right of way.

The Evening Standard also reports that over 2,600 drivers were wrongly fined £100 each for non-payment of the London congestion charge after official road diversions directed them into the charging zone. Tower Bridge, on the edge of the charging zone, was closed, but charge operators Capita left cameras running on the diversion route over London and Southwark bridges. Capita has issued letters of apology to the motorists affected, and will be fined for the mistake. The paper also names a posh Hampstead street as the place in London where parking wardens get the most abuse. Fitzjohn's Avenue has a number of nurseries and private schools, and wardens are regularly assaulted by parents who have parked illegally whilst dropping off their children. Residents in the area are campaigning for school run parents to use alternative forms of transport, and are starting a 'walking bus' scheme in an attempt to reduce the congestion. Other 'flashpoint' locations named are Charing Cross Road, Tottenham Court Road, Old Compton Street, Frith Street, Wardour Street, Soho Square, Cranbourn Street, Hatton Garden and Gray's Inn Road.
